She was born one of 9 children to William Claude Hazlip and Ruby Viola Crosby on June 9, 1926 in Hazlehurst, GA. She was married to the late John A. Beck.
Lillian lived to serve, whether it be for her family, friends, or the Lord. She enjoyed seeing friends and family at church as often as possible. But, what really made her smile, was raising and spending time with her family for whom, through the years, she tirelessly worked, prayed, mentored, and cooked – No one ever left “Mema’s” house hungry, physically or spiritually.
She is survived by two sisters, Claudine and Eulee and one brother, Bill (Pearl); four sons, Leon (Betty), Elton (Geri), Raymond (Kathy), and Douglas (Emma Sue); daughter, Michelle Beck Nelson (Todd); twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
