Leonard L. “Len” Brown, 69, lost his battle with cancer on May 30, 2010. He was born May 17, 1941 (on his mother’s birthday) to Charles E. and Nannie C. Brown of Winston-Salem, NC. The fifth of six children, NASCAR racing was his passion with Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. as his personal favorites. He was also passionate about his long career as a restaurant manager. He proudly served in the U.S. Army.
He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Pauline Brown; daughter, Gayla Edwards (John) and grandson, Brody Edwards of VA; sisters, Freda Crews (Robert) and Peggy Johnston (Bobbie) as well as a large family of cousins, nieces, nephews, all from NC; brother-in-law & friend, Ralph A. Mason, Sr. (Patricia) and nephew, Ralph A. Mason, Jr., all of Tallahassee and nephew, Chris Mason of Jacksonville, all to mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday (today), June 2, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7665 Ft. Caroline Road, Jacksonville, FL 32277. Family will receive friends from 12-2 PM prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Len’s name may be made to Community Hospice of NE FL, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
