It was always nice to hear Larry on 96.9 Cool Fm. He played my request whenever he was working as the Dj that night. I still have all the recordings.  Miss you very much Larry

I knew Larry Browdy for many years as he played my request on 96.9 Cool Fm. I remember him for his beautiful eulogy dedicated to Smokin Joe Beamer.  May he alway be a blessed memory 

I was just sitting in the garage thinking of days gone by. In 1971 WIVY a guy named Tom Kirby hired 3 guys to do a new sound in Jacksonville. I did the morning, Larry did mid day and Jamie did the night shift. Larry was so funny to watch.He would do his show standing wailing his hands to emphasize words and get into it. I didn’t last long, only about 9 months. Me and Kirby did not get along so I told him to take the job and you know. I never saw Larry after that. I would listen to him from time to time. I still miss him today. Larry always tried to help me thru the battle. I got out of the business. You gotta be a dreamer to be in radio. Larry was that. We will always miss you Larry. We love you! I can't believe he is gone, just was thinkin bout him today, realized I had not heard from him in quite a while! Bein in the entertainment business I knew Larry since the 70's between him interviewing me on air or us doing events together, the last was New Years Eve in Ga. 10 or so yrs ago, so we got to Know each well over the many years! All I can say is he was a true & dear friend to me & my career! I am truly saddened...

Larry entered my life, around 1987, as a new bride, we would listen to the Oldies with him until our hearts where content. Then around 1998-2000, Larry was the DJ for the Valentine’s  Dance @ Jax Beach Elementary, where I did family participation on the PTA. He will forever be n my heart!! ♥️ 

My deepest condolences to the Brody family.  

Although it has been a number of years since Mr Brody has died,  I have always thought of him throughout my adulthood.  My fondest memories of Larry “Hey Now” Brody was while I was attending Alfred DuPont junior high school and subsequently Andrew Jackson high school in the (1980’s).  My friends and I would speed dial the radio station just to speak to Mr Brody and to hear ourselves on the radio.  I was a frequent caller and thought of myself as a mini radio personality.  He was a staple during our formative  teenage years.

After graduating high school and while attending college,  I volunteered to work for the college radio station and tried to emulate the experience for the listeners the way in which Mr Brody gave to us through his time on the radio.

Even now... as an adult, I sit here in the schools parking lot  at work (as an “essential” employee) wondering what would Larry Brody say  on the radio about this Covid-19  pandemic and I know he would offer words of encouragement and hope.

Thank you for sharing Mr Brody with me - he made an impact and continues to influence me even now.

I consider myself fortunate to have met Mr. Browdy through services of the Jacksonville Public Library, where in addition to his teaching, he worked part-time at the children's desk at the Highlands branch.  I was a part-time worker there when I met Larry.  We became fast friends, having some truly engaging, enjoyable coversations, always paying me the highest compliment as a "true friend".  The sentiment was mutual.  Having grown up in the duval county area, I was certainly familiar with his achievements on am/fm radio in those halcyon days gone by.  Affable, entertaining, hard working, with an easy-going, carefree attitude that was contagious to all who had the pleasure of his shared company.  I was sorry to hear of his passing.  We had lost touch after the first of the year & his health was rapidly deterioating.  I felt he wanted to be alone.  A fighter to the end, he will be missed.  One last shout out to my main man, "Hey, Now", Brother Larry.  Thank you for the memories.  Your friend, Wes Burnsed

The last time I saw Larry he was spinning music at a party. Didn't know he was ill. I worked with Larry at 92K, Sunny 60, and WAIV. Hey now! I remember him doing well at WPDQ. I remember when I shared an apartment with another DJ and we both got fired from 92K due to a format change. We were owed back pay and they didn't have the money to pay us. We were broke and hungry and Larry's mother sent us groceries! I will never forget her help in our time of need. Larry would always go out of the way to help people and he certainly was one of a kind! If there's a DJ Heaven then you know they've got a heck of a line up! Rest in Peace!

Just heard the sad news about Larry.  Quite a guy and a great DJ.  We worked together at WAIV in the early 80s.  "Hey Now" Larry, RIP.

I want to extend our condolences on the passing of Larry Browdy from the entire Goldblum Family.  I have many fond memories of Larry from both Jacksonville and Camp Ramah.  May his memory always serve as a source of inspiration to all of us.

I am so saddened to hear this news today about Larry. We attended Wolfson and FSU together and shared a love of teaching. That fabulous voice served him well as a DJ both on the air and at private functions! His enthusiasm for music was contagious. My prayers go out to his family and close friends-he touched the hearts of many!

Near Landon Jr Hi, we would occasionally have lunch together at the diner in San Marco. I learned about audio technology from him. I regret that we lost touch. Condolences to his loved ones.

I remember Larry Browdy on the radio when I was a little girl. I would listen to his morning show each morning before school. I always wanted to call in on the live show but was always in route. Larry was invaluable to me when I was principal of Mattie V. Rutherford Elementary during 1984-87.  I needed to get information out about school registration and other important things. I called him and he did the announcements or had me tell the parents on air.  The mothers all had their radios tuned to his station!  He did a school dance and would come talk to the children all out of the goodness of his heart.  I will always appreciate Larry's kind, generous spirit.

Larry, I had the honor of working with you at WPDQ FM. If I needed  help, I could always count on you to fill in. You were the ultimate professional. Plus you were and understanding and compassionate human. I hope to relive memories with you one day in the after life.

I can recall walking down the halls of Wolfson  High School hearing that great voice of his through the crowd of students rushing to their next class.....Larrys voice was unmistakable.
I can recall him As a DJ for our wolfson class reunion many years ago playing songs from our graduating year 1971..
He was such a nice guy ... easy going and uncomplicated.
Shocked when I saw the news from a post on Facebook .... sad that he passed at such a " young age " to a disease that needs a cure!
Condolences to his family and close friends who cared for him.
May your happiest memories together sustain you through this time of sadness.

Larry and I had some classes together at Wolfson and shared rides to and from FSU / Tallahassee a number of times in the 70's.  We shared a lengthy conversation sitting on the floor of an FSU classroom building on a dreary Tallahassee afternoon waiting out an especially heavy downpour.  Larry spoke enthusiastically about an innovative Clinical Teacher Model for Special Education preparation program in which he was enrolled that was led by Louis Schwartz and Andrew Oseroff.  That conversation changed the direction of my studies and affected my career and personal life in countless ways.  For that I am deeply grateful.  Larry's was the distinctive "voice of Jacksonville" from high school on.  Extending sincere condolences to Larry's loved ones on his passing from this life.  May wonderful memories of Larry resonate in your hearts and bring you comfort.

Larry & I graduated from Wolfson together.  When my mom, Babsy, and I drove to St. Augustine, we would call the radio station and speak to Larry to request certain songs which he played and announced it was for us! 
Larry even tutored my younger brother, Gary, with his Haftorah portion in preparation for his Bar-Mitzvah!

Larry was someone I had the pleasure of meeting at a family function when I was 13 y.o. It was then that I knew that I wanted to be in the radio/dj business. When I graduated from college, I decided to start my own dj business and when I wasnt available, I knew that I could count on Larry when I needed him. A true professional. Sorry I didnt get a chance to spend time with him again before he passed. Hey Now Larry Browdy, thanks for all of the wonderful times. Appreciate all the advice you gave me over the years. It has been an honor to have known you for the past 32 years.

Knew Larry a number of years & having been in radio myself, worked with him in the times of WPDQ (the old WAPE) '89-'93. I did not know his health condition & learned of his death during the storm & got sidetracked with it. Only finding out his funeral service was this morning @ 10 a.m. & I missed it.

HEY NOW!  I am thankful for the friendship of Larry.  He gave me my first rock radio job back in 1978, and was just as friendly the last time I saw him about 10 years ago as he was the first time I met him.  Larry was first class, kind, and thoughtful.  The world needs a whole lot more of that!

Larry was one of my first friends in Jacksonville radio.  I worked with him at WAIV in the late 70's.  He will be greatly missed.

For me to hear of this took my  breath away, we where just laughing and talking about going to the club on Friday night. I took care of Larry why he lived at Taylor he was just a burst of JOY, he made my work day better in every way!!! Larry I will truly miss you (FAV) I still look for u to walk down the hallway and say "YooBaby" Gm I'm praying for your brother/family doing this tough time...

I had the Privledge of working with Larry throughout many years in Jacksonville Radio Broadcasting, Larry was  known as Mr. Radio and he could pull you right out of your Car with that Unique Voice & Charm. Larry was Tops in Talent, Respect & Honor. He was a Good person in every way.

I worked with Larry at WAIV in 1980. Being new to the business,he was always helpful and supportive. A great human being and was a friend to me as I was new to town.  Remember going to Dunkin Donuts with him after our shifts where he talked with the cops and flirted with the waitresses. RIP

Sad news, Larry loved talking radio and as he said "I've worked at every toilet in this market." but he loved it.He loved entertaining on and off the air. He said what he meant and meant what he said, can't ask for more than that from a friend. Enjoyed him on the radio growing up and enjoyed working with him. Hey now, you will be missed.

Sorry to hear about the passing of D.J.  Larry Browdy. I grew up listening to WPDQ in Jacksonville, Florida.  No other station has come close to WPDQ, the best station ever.  I remembered his introductions, Hey Now Larry Browdy!  Baby, baby, baby, sweet baby, Larry Browdy. I had the privilege of meeting Larry Browdy at my Elementary School. Hearts are deeply Saddened of his passing. He was truly the best D.J. in Jacksonville, Florida. Love Williemae Young.
