Kim was born on July 11th, 1964, in The Bronx, New York. She was a lifetime learner and had a passion for healthcare and education. Kim earned her associates degree in Nursing from the Florida State College of Jacksonville and went on to further her education in the field by earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of North Florida. After helping shape and further the education of other nurses through her time as an instructor at the same university, Kim returned to the field, working in the NICU and as a lactation consultant. She delivered care to countless others working for various hospitals in Abilene & Houston, Texas, Fairbanks, Alaska and finally returning to home to Jacksonville, Florida. Her greatest passion was helping babies and new mothers and she truly loved and enjoyed her work.
Before her career in nursing, she married Jim Bilsky Jr in 1986. They then moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1990, where she would give birth to her 2 children, Jimmy and Samantha. Kim was an excellent mother and pillar of the household growing up. She always put our wants and needs above her own. She made sure our baseball uniforms were always clean, and never missed a practice or game. She loved to keep the official scorer’s book at all our games and was always our number 1 fan. Mom always remembered the important dates, and made sure we were never, ever late. She was there for us during our lowest points, and the first to congratulate us on all our successes. All she ever wanted was the best for us. Her greatest achievement was being our mother.
While she wasn’t being an outstanding mother or caring for others, Kim enjoyed going to the gym, watching her favorite baseball team, The New York Yankees and baking. She loved mowing the grass, being outdoors, going to theme parks, and above all else, spending time with her family. Kim loved animals, but especially cats, adopting and raising several through the years. She always tried to see the best in others and was a great listener and friend.
Kimberly is survived by James Duncan Bilsky Jr., as well as her son, James Duncan Bilsky III, age 29, of Haines City, Florida, and her daughter, Samantha Victoria Bilsky, age 26, of Jacksonville, Florida.
A farewell service will be held at Marian Center St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 11757 Old St. Augustine Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32258, on Thursday, August 4th at 10:00 a.m. If Kim touched your life in any way, we would love you to join us.
In lieu of flowers, we request that donations are made in her name to the Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital NICU.
