She was born on Sept. 10, 1942, to John T. Driver and Betty Porter Driver of Osceola, Ark. She was a resident of South Florida before retiring to Hollister in October 2005. She was happily married to the late James "Jim" Peterson for 45 years, having married on April 17, 1962. In 2003 she retired from Stricklin Tires, located in Miami, after 11 years of service. She was active in Relay for Life, being a member of the "Rookie team". She donated her time to Relay for Life by baking, sewing and participating in numerous fundraisers, both in Putnam County and South Florida. Her hobbies included crafts, sewing, baking, and spending time with family. She was an avid Miami Dolphins and NASCAR fan. She cared for and loved her animals, and could often be found gardening or tending to her many plants and flowers. She will be remembered by all who knew her as an outstanding person, friend, and loved one.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Driver and Betty Porter Driver; brother, Carroll L. Driver; husband, James "Jim" Peterson; son, Michael E. Peterson; and daughter-in-law, Karen M. Peterson.
Left to carry on her memory are a son, Richard "Rick" Peterson, of Hollister; sister, Linda Hamm of Tennessee; and granddaughters, Lindsey M. Arcularius and Diane A. Peterson of South Florida; and all who knew and loved her.
There will be no funeral service arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in he honor to Relay for Life, "The Rookie Team" of Interlachen or The North Florida Humane Society in Hollister.
