Katharine Knight Patterson was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1919. She passed away peacefully on 6 August at the age of 103. She was known by her friends and family as Kattee. Her life accomplishments included attending Florida State College for Women and the University of South Carolina and being a member of Chi Omega Sorority, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, the Hyacinth Garden Circle, and the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Altar Guild. Kattee always opened her heart to share her love and joy with family, friends, and neighbors. She inspired many with her faithful service and devotion to the Lord. Among Kattee’s passions were going to the beach and reading. She enjoyed working in estate sales in the Jacksonville area for almost 40 years. Her talents included sewing, gardening, cooking, playing Mahjong, and she was well-known for her exquisite quilting. Left with many wonderful memories are her son David R. Patterson (Janet), her two grandsons Chris M.W. Patterson (Ai Ling) and Scott R. Patterson (Jennifer), and many friends and extended family who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her loving husband Giles J. Patterson, Jr., her daughter Louise Brandon King, and her son Giles “Butch” J. Patterson III. The family extends their deep gratitude to Sharon Hill, a close friend and caregiver for the last eight years, and to Tammy Farlow for her great care and advice. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Wednesday, August 16th at 1:00 p.m.
