Born in Jacksonville on December 9, 1992, she was the daughter of Kimberly Krabe Barnes and Ronald Anthony Winstel. She made many life-long friends while attending The Children’s School (Atlanta, GA), Beauclerc Elementary, San Jose Episcopal, Episcopal High, Davidson Day (Davidson, NC), Wolfson and Fletcher High. Kaitlyn graduated from Fletcher High School in 2011 and was currently attending Florida State College at Jacksonville where she earned designation on the College President’s List for academic achievement. She was a Girl Scout Silver Award recipient, received the US President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence and was accepted into the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
In her short 21 years, she was full of life and had a kind, generous, loving and forgiving spirit. She worked hard and played hard and was a loyal, trusted friend. Shortly after receiving Christ Jesus as her Savior, the Lord took our precious angel up to heaven to watch over everyone she loved so dearly.
Kaitlyn is survived by her loving parents, Kim Barnes and Ron Winstel; brother Austin Winstel; grandparents Lou Krabe (Atlanta, GA) and Adrian (Dick) Winstel, Jr. (Plano, TX); aunts Kelly Spiggle (Charles) (Cornelius, NC), Kristie Carter (Matt) (Clearwater, FL), uncles Tom Winstel (Fairfield, CT), Rick Winstel (Plano, TX), Carl Rapp (Julia) (Athens, GA); cousins Robbie and Rebecca Rapp (Athens, GA), Lauren Winstel (Fairfield, CT), and Caroline and Jackson Spiggle (Cornelius, NC). She is also survived by her Godparents Kristie, aunt listed above and Thomas Connors (Youngsville, NC) a dear family friend.
Kaitlyn was predeceased by several special angels in her life, her great grandmothers Mabel Sellers, Marjorie Nell Bourbon, Estelle Crabbe, Beatrice Winstel, Bernice Chambers; great grandfathers Robert Sellers, Larry Crabbe, Adrian Winstel, Sr., Harry Chambers; grandmothers Bobbie Krabe and Kay Winstel and aunt Elizabeth Kay Rapp.
Memorial services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4171 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Saturday, April 12th at 12:34 pm. Immediately following the service a celebration of her life will be held at San Jose Country Club, 7529 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32217.
