Mrs. Cox was born April 8th, 1941 in Deland, Florida, to parents Leo and Ava Savola, both sadly deceased. She spent most of her childhood in Jacksonville, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1959. Shortly after high school, she met her lifelong partner, James “Jim” Cox, while working together. They were married on September 3rd, 1960, and lived 61 beautiful years together, during which they raised their son, Roger. She was a member of the Khem Temple Daughters of the Nile dancers, and enjoyed much friendship and fellowship with its members. She loved to travel with family and friends, but most of all she loved the Great Smoky Mountains near Waynesville, North Carolina, where she and Jim spent many happy times. She would light up every room she entered with love and laughter, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will be missed each and every day by her husband, who knows he will see her again when they meet in Heaven.
Judy is survived by her loving husband and life partner of 61 years, James “Jim” Cox; her son, Roger (Brenda) Cox; two grandsons, Brandon Cox and Jared Cox; and two nephews, Barry (Jennifer) Livengood and family, and Garry (Renee) Livengood and family.
Flowers are welcome and appreciated, but in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Judy’s name to the Shrine Children’s Hospital, which can be reached at (888)985-8307.
A Graveside service to honor Judy will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205.
