Juanita Dorothy Archer Richardson Hodges born December 18, 1934 was part of “the greatest generation” and as a child struggled through the depression. She was most often referred to as “Lovey”, a holdover from her handle in her CB radio days.
Juanita was born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia before moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1958. In 1962 she decided to become a teacher, ultimately attending and graduating from Jacksonville University with her teaching degree.
Juanita worked for 29 years within the Duval County School system as an elementary teacher. Her favorite grade to teach being Kindergarten. Juanita especially enjoyed working with children with learning disabilities as she herself had struggled with dyslexia. During her career she received many awards and accolades, but was most proud of her appearance in the 1994 edition of, “Who ‘s Who Among American Teachers”, having been nominated by a former student.
Outside of her work with students Juanita was an adventurer, whether traveling internationally or touring the US. Her favorite trips were the summers spent with Raymond and Rebecca on her property in Virginia. Her faith was also very important to her as she was very involved at her church.
