Juanita Collins Hare passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the age of 98 years old. She was born on November 9, 1924 in Atlanta, Georgia, and spent her childhood in Brunswick, Georgia. She graduated from Glynn Academy in 1943. Juanita loved to skate and dance, and would spend many hours at the skating rink and at dances on the base. During the war, she worked at the shipyards.
Nita married Alfred Rosenberg in 1945 and had three children. Al’s military career led the family from Savannah, Georgia to Miami, Florida, to Cordova, Alaska, and finally to Jacksonville, Florida. Nita and Al divorced and she married Fred Hare in 1973. After his death, she lived on her own, spending almost every day with her daughter and grandchildren. Juanita loved her dogs over the years: Chipper, Toby, and her beloved Benny. Nita was one of the most giving people around, and she never knew a stranger. Always honest, endearingly stubborn, and never without her lipstick, she will be missed by many.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Fred Hare; her parents, Carl and Lillie Collins; and her siblings: Charlie Collins, Sarah Collins Hoge, Margaret Collins Fox, Terry Collins, Leon Collins, and Bobby Collins. She is also preceded in death by her former husband, Alfred Rosenberg.
She is survived by her children: son René (Marian) Rosenberg, daughter Verlyn Rosenberg Hollo, and son Craig (Cecilia) Rosenberg, as well as 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Juanita will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
