A native of Jacksonville, she graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. Joyce spent twelve years of her young adult life working at Gulf Life Insurance. She was a homemaker who was passionate about serving the Lord and caring for her family. As a member of Southside Baptist Church for over twenty years, she loved teaching her Sunday School class, working in the Children’s Ministry and Woman’s Missionary Union, and visiting those on the homebound list. Joyce also enjoyed volunteering her time at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in their Auxiliary Department where she pushed the “woofy wagon” and rocked babies as she prayed for them in the NICU. She found great joy in helping the children, their families and the staff for fifteen years.
She is survived by her four children, Joyce Thompson-Frost (Jimmy), Nancy Branch, Randy Reaves (Heather), and Robyn Bratton (Luke). She had ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her family would like to thank her caregivers who allowed her to be home in her final days.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 with family receiving friends at 9:30am. The service will be held at Aspire Church 1435 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32207 by officiant John Harmeling. In lieu of flowers, family request donations to made in Joyce’s honor to Wolfson Children’s Hospital Auxillary, 800 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
Joyce will be most remembered by her love of reminiscing, jovial smile, amazing banana pudding and steadfast spirit in Christ.
