Joy Diane Boggan Lewis, 73, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on July 11, 2022. Born in Mobile, AL to Vernon and Emma Boggan on September 13, 1948, she was raised in Palatka, FL and graduated from Palatka High School in 1966.
Joy worked for the FBI in Washington, DC from 1966 to 1968, then continued with them in Jacksonville after her marriage to Danny Payton Lewis. She also worked for the Bulk Mail Center until taking time off to be involved with the children’s school. Later in life she spent several years as secretary at Murray Hill Presbyterian Church until she retired around 2010.
Joy was predeceased by her husband Danny Lewis in 2012, as well as her parents and several siblings. She is survived by her son, Danny Payton Lewis, Jr and her daughter Jill Diane Counts (Ron), brother Jerry Boggan, and sisters Jean McGauley and June Hill (Dennis). She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Makenna Counts (14), Benjamin Counts (8), Jacob Counts (6), and Charlette Counts (2).

A graveside service for Joy will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 from 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
