Joseph "Joey" Hill Sarria

Joseph "Joey" Hill SARRIA "Joey", 47, of St Johns, FL formerly of Bethel Park, PA passed away peacefully April 27, 2021. He was born September 13, 1973 in Dover, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph Devesa Sarria and Sue Hill Sarria.  

Joseph graduated from Bethel Park Sr High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Edinboro University of Pa.  He served in the active duty Army from 1993-1995 and then in the Army National Guard from 1998-2001.  Joseph served as a police officer for the Atlanta Police Department from 2005-2008 and then with the Jacksonville, FL Sheriff’s Office (JSO) from 2008-2019. 

Joseph had a deep love for God and Jesus.  He was a people person who really cared about others, especially his neighbors and friends.  He loved meeting new people and truly did not know a stranger.  He genuinely cared about the stories people were telling him and about their lives.  Joseph was active in his community, enjoyed watching the Pgh Steelers, was passionate about American History,  loved being outside especially if it was at the beach or the pool, enjoyed spending time with his family and was a dedicated and loving father to his daughter Julianna.  

Joseph is survived by his daughter Julianna Patricia Sarria of St Johns, sister Devesa Hill Sarria of Redondo Beach, CA, brother Troy Hill Sarria of Gambrills, MD; former spouse Katie Eckley Sarria of St Johns, and sister-in-law Rene Sarria of Gambrills, MD; Aunt Rita Sarria Lopez and Uncle James Hill, nieces Maddison, Nicole, Marlena and Emelise Sarria.  He is also survived by many cousins.
