Joseph Horace Roberts Jr.

Joseph Horace Roberts, Jr., age 73, passed away July 17, 2020 in Orange Park, Florida. Joe was born on December 25, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to Joseph Horace Roberts and Naomi Ruth Weatherly Roberts. He was the owner of J&S Lawn Service for almost 30 years. He always enjoyed working outside. He was a faithful and dedicated member of New Life Baptist Church for 30 years, where he served as head usher.

Joe’s legacy was his sweetness and kindness to all those who knew him. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and lived his life to be pleasing in God’s eyes. He enjoyed traveling with his favorite sidekick, his wife Susan.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Naomi Roberts; sister, Thelma Smith; and son in law, Richard Lee. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Susan Roberts; daughters Jan Platt (Scott) of Ocala, FL and Windy Lee of Callahan, FL; one son, Joe Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Cameron, Emily, Sophie, Clayton, and Harrison; and one sister, Ruth Robinson of Gulfport, MS.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at New Life Baptist Church, 6680 Seaboard Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32244. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 9:00 a.m. In honor of Joe, please wear bright Hawaiian colors and prints for the service. In lieu of flowers, please designate donations to New Life Baptist Church.
