Joseph Edward Morris

Joseph E. Morris (88) went home to be with our Lord on Thursday May 5, 2022. He was born on March 23, 1934 to Alfred and Lotta Morris, in Kansas City, Missouri. He joined the Navy in 1952 and after leaving the service in 1956, he made his home in Jacksonville, Florida. There he met his wife Judy Hall in 1981. They were married on May 29, 1982. He retired from the Simmons Mattress Company in 1987, where he spent 30 years as a machinist. He was an avid fisherman and camping enthusiast. He enjoyed having fish fries at their home, serving up the best of the latest catch. He had perfected the art of the pancake including the “drips” that his grandchildren loved the most.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Lotta Morris, his sisters Virginia Morris, Joann Morris, and Tessa Cross, and his brothers Benjamin Morris and Jerry Morris. He is survived by his wife Judy of nearly 40 years. His children Joseph Morris, Robbi (Ellen) Morris, Peggy (Arthur Cammett) Ritz, Debbie (David) Steinmeyer, Patti Taylor, and step-daughters Terry (David) Laws and Stephanie (Barry) Kimball. He also has multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A graveside service will follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Pak.
