Joey is a Jacksonville native and spent most of his life in Oceanway and on the Westside. Joey worked as a painter, an ironworker, and in several other trades, but his passion was his work as a heavy equipment operator and business owner in the construction industry. Joey enjoyed playing his drums, riding motorcycles, hunting & fishing, building & racing cars & trucks, and living life to the fullest. He raced monster trucks in the Coliseum, the Gator Bowl, and across Florida & Georgia. Joey was a man of faith who put his trust in God. Joey left his mark all over Jacksonville, as a builder and as a force of nature, but he will forever be remembered first and foremost as a Westside legend.
Joey is preceded in death by his grandparents, mother Carlene, brother Steven, nephews Steven & Jeffery, and several other family members & close friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of four decades, Melinda, his two children, Joseph & Breana, father, Joseph David Jones, Sr., siblings, Cherie (Gene) Jones & Terry Jones, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, & close friends.
