Howell, Joseph L. Howell, 85 of Jacksonville went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2007. He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was a native of Laurens County, Georgia. Mr. Howell served in the 3rd Army, 11th Armored Division under Gen. George S. Patton during WW II in Europe. He was wounded and received two Purple Hearts in Belgium and was in the Battle of The Bulge. Mr. Howell was a faithful servant of the Lord, was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School and lead the Music for the Church. Mr. Howell retired from the City of Jacksonville as a Traffic Engineer in February 1991. Survivors include his wife Atha F. Howell, two daughters: Danette (Richard) Godbolt & Connie (David) Adams, sister: Euldine (Sam) Previti, brother: Hayward Howell, four grandchildren: Sean (Julie) Adams, Garret Godbolt, Amanda Adams & Jared (April) Godbolt and two Great-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces & Nephews. Funeral services will be held in Springfield Baptist Church, 1106 N. Liberty St. Jacksonville, FL. 32206 at 1 PM Monday Feb. 12, 2007 with Rev. Frank Pintello and Dr. Church Blair officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 6 PM Sunday (today) at the church. Arrangements by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Memorial gifts may be sent to Springfield Baptist Church.
