Joseph F. Hall, 87, of Jacksonville, passed away on November 26, 2011. Born in Providence, RI to Thomas and Rose Hyland Hall, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Joseph was a collegiate runner and a star running back at Columbia University. He was also a Hall of Fame inductee at the University of Rhode Island. A member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Joseph retired from the US Navy as a Naval Fighter Pilot and Commander after 33 years of service, having served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Joseph was an avid golfer, and was the Executive Director of the Leukemia Society of Jacksonville. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross at the Naval Hospital. Preceded in death by his wife, Fay E. Hall; son, Jonathan Hall; and daughter, Laurie Hall, he is survived by his son, Doug Hall; daughters, Joyceline Hall Zimmerman (Earl), Denise Hall Jakeway (Philip), Nina Hall Riley (Peter), Antonia Hall Rudzis and Christina Hall; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 1st in St. Joseph Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL with Father Daniel Cody as Celebrant.
