Jose served in the US Navy and made Jacksonville his home town about 35 years ago. He was a skilled carpenter and was very proud of the multiple projects he was part of here in Jacksonville.
He was a people person, always willing to help others and a friend to all with a wonderful sense of humor. He lived and enjoyed his life to the fullest as the song says
“I did it my way”. José enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and will be greatly missed.
José is survived by his siblings Juan (Yolanda) Mendoza of Cypress Texas, Mary Mendoza of Jacksonville Florida, Ruth (Josue) Bastidas of Cypress Texas and sister-in-law Lucy Mendoza of Monroe Michigan Many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brothers Carlos Mendoza and Elías Mendoza.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to his life-long best friend of many years, who also became his caregiver for the last 3 years, Dwayne Mercer.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 1pm to 3pm at Hardage-Giddens - Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
