John Edward Walz passed away to meet his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 91. John Edward “Ed” was born on August 18, 1926 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to the late Gertrude and Norbert Walz. He and his wife, Corrine, were married for 63 years. They lived in Deerfield, Illinois for 43 years before selecting Florida to retire in 2003. Corrine passed away in January of 2018.
He enjoyed his family and “collecting things” as he called it. He was a member of San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Loras College in Dubuque, IA.
He is survived by his two children, Michael (Judith) Walz and Margaret (Kenneth) Fell, Saint Johns, Florida; three grandchildren, Andrew Fell, Orlando, FL, Ian Fell, Saint Johns, FL, and Hannah Fell, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and sister, Lola Dalton, Palm Desert, CA.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 9:30 am on Tuesday, August 14 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 on Tuesday, August 14 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, followed by interment at Mandarin Cemetery, Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
