John Edwin Sasser

John Edwin Sasser, affectionately known as Ed, 61, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 24, 2014. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 30, 1953. At the time of his passing, Ed was an active resident of the Pine Castle Center of Jacksonville. He was an avid fan of country music and comedies. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.

Ed was a life-long member of Ortega United Methodist Church and a devoted member of Southside United Methodist’s special ‘Friends’ Choir and ‘Friends’ Sunday School class.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Buist Sasser and is survived by his mother, Patricia Williams Sasser, and his sisters, Ann Sasser Mabbett (John) and Judy Sasser Carlson (Ken).

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at the Ortega United Methodist Church, 4807 Roosevelt Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210, at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pine Castle Center, 4911 Spring Park Road, Jacksonville, FL 32207 or Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage Giddens Funeral Home 729 S. Edgewood Ave.
