John "Mike" Michael Mackin

John Michael Mackin (Mike),73, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 in Jacksonville FL surrounded by his family and friends. Mike was born on June 9,1949, in Ilion, NY, to John and Pauline Mackin.

A graduate of Jones College in Jacksonville, Mike began a career in accounting/finance at St. Regis paper company and later at Christ the King Catholic Church. He then transitioned to a career in programming and analysis with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida until his retirement.

Mike enjoyed volunteering at his parish church and also serving several other organizations in the community. He is remembered for his warm personality, positive attitude, and maybe most of all, his laugh. Mike loved and absorbed every moment he was able to spend with his family and friends. He appreciated life to its fullest.

Mike is survived by his sisters Gail (Jon) and Kathy (William); brother David (Maryann); former wife Nancy; two sons James (former wife Rebecca) and Stephen (Heather); and four granddaughters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 6, at Avondale United Methodist Church, 1651 Talbot Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32205 (http://www.aumcjax.org/).
