John joined the United States Marine Corp at 17, during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1948. After his military service John married Marjorie Reed. John worked in the automotive transportation industry as an executive for 40 years. During this period of time his job moved his family to California, Ohio and back home to Michigan making lifetime friends along the way. He retired in Michigan and settled in Florida in 1988. He enjoyed golfing, boating and playing bridge.
John is survived by his wife, Marjorie of 69 years and their four children: Michael Kelly of Jacksonville, Karen (Gary) Hautau of Jacksonville, Amy (Jon) Sharkey of Dunnellon, Florida and Kenneth (Cyndi) of Morristown, Florida. John and Marge have six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He is survived by his sister Ann Hewson of Vero Beach, Florida.
John is preceded in death by his father and mother, John B. Kelly and Jean B. Kelly; brother, Mathew A. Kelly; sister, Margaret Kelly; and brother, James Kelly.
Uncle Jack will be missed and cherished by numerous nieces and nephews. Our dad is so much more than these words and he will be missed forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home. The family will greet friends an hour prior.
