John Aaron Hartley, 80, of Jacksonville Florida, passed from life to life everlasting on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. He was in the presence of his wife and "sweetie" of 57 years, Barbara McCorkle Hartley; his daughter, Angela Hartley Williams and her husband James Scott Williams; his son, John Gregory Hartley; his grandchildren Zachary and Jacob Williams and their families; and his brother Jack Hartley.
John was a man of great stature in the life of his church regardless of where he lived. He did not relish in religious activity, but diligently sought to yield his life to the way of Christ Jesus. As a result of his commitment and kindness, friends of God sought to be friends with John. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
John's professional career started after he graduated from Auburn University with a Master's degree in Engineering working on the booster rocket for the Saturn V space ship. He quickly realized that his professional passion was structural engineering and eventually started his own business at the age of 40, which sustained his family and creativity for 38 years.
The funeral service will be held April 24 at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Rd, with visitation/reception starting at noon, service at 1:00pm, and interment at 3:00pm at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd N.
