Joanne Marie Carey Pulliam, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went home to God on July 4th, 2014. She was 78 years old. Joanne was born August 9, 1935 in Troy, New York. She grew up in Waterford, New York and graduated from Waterford High School, Class of 1953. It was there that she met the love of her life, Donald Carl Pulliam, through a mutual good friend and best man at their wedding Donald Shudt. Joanne and Donald were married August 6,1955. They were married 49 years when Donald was called home to our Lord on December 25, 2004.
Her greatest happiness was her grandchildren. She took such joy in what her grandchildren were doing. She loved spending time with them and enjoyed every step in the journey of their lives. She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting. She especially loved making things for her grandkids. She made sure they all had treasures of her work; a needlepoint and a crocheted blanket or pillow and every birthday was celebrated with cake, candles, balloons and streamers. She loved all their art work that covered the dining room walls like wall paper. Her most favorite thing of all was our family gatherings. She loved the holidays. Easter always had egg hunts and at Christmas she loved making everyone’s favorite gift, Chex Mix! No one could make it like you, Mom.
Joanne is preceded by her loving husband Donald and her son Joseph. Joanne is survived by her daughters Nancy and Laurie and her son Dan. Her seven grandchildren; Brian, John, Michelle, Derek, Nichole, Dillon and Will and her two great grandchildren Michael and Matthew.
We love you and will miss you so much.
Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
