JoAnne McMonagle Mantia passed away suddenly March 9, 2011. JoAnne was most of all a loving and doting wife, mother and grandmother whose love was returned ten fold. She was born 75 years ago in Homestead PA and is survived by her husband Tom, of 54 years; daughter Linda Connelly (Jim); son Tom (Kathleen); son David (Renee). Grandchildren Maureen Williams (Ben), Kelly Connelly, Michael, Kristyn, Aaron and Joshua Mantia were her pride and joy.
JoAnne was a graduate and class valedictorian from Homestead High School, and then attended Indiana State Teachers College of PA and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
JoAnne and Tom moved to Jacksonville in 1972. She was a member of Deerwood Country Club where she enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. She was proficient in the design of stained glass and enjoyed making art work for herself and her family. She was a charter Jaguar season ticket holder and avid fan. JoAnne was also a Paul Harris Fellow, bestowed on her by the Rotary Club of North Jacksonville.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Road with Father Timothy Cusick as Celebrant.
