JoAnn Thomas

JoAnn Thomas, age 76, of Jacksonville, Florida went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2023. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents James and Reta McKay, her brother Ronald McKay, and her beloved nephew Alan Thomas.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John R. Thomas, her children Jennifer Godbold, Jason Thomas (Melissa), and Jill Jones (Brian) and her dog Bo.

She was a precious MeMaw to her grandchildren Jenna (David), Tyler (Kira), Jace, and Jacob.

JoAnn worked as a legal assistant for City of Jacksonville for 22 years and retired to fulfill her true passion as a full-time MeMaw - travelling to the beach, mountains, and baseball games with her family. She also loved cooking her favorite recipes for her family, shopping, and spending time with her lifelong friends (Linda Gail, Jeanene, Betty and Steve) and her legal hens.

JoAnn met John in kindergarten at Wesley United Methodist Church. They began their love story in the 11th grade and the rest was history.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 11:30 a.m at the Shindler Drive Baptist Church, 7100 Shindler Drive, with Pastor Jonathan Reavis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until service time. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
