Joan Ida King (Banthorpe) age 92, passed away at her daughter’s home in Sanderson, Florida on August 15th, 2020. She was born in Ipswich, England on August 7th, 1928 and moved to the U.S. in 1971. Joan and Brian were members of Arlington Assembly of God for many years while living in Jacksonville, FL. After retirement they bought property in Sanderson, Florida, and Joan moved there after Brian passed away in 2011 to be close to her family. She lived there until May 2019 when a bad fall caused her to move in with her daughter, who lived closeby.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Brian King and a son, Graham King. She is survived by 3 daughters, Carole Wilson (John), Susan Herron (Bob), Linda Royal (Larry); 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Rhoda Miller and Rita Otahal; brothers, Tom, Ted, Barry, and Bob Banthorpe.
Graveside services will be held 12:00pm on Wednesday, August 19th in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, with a visitation for one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in her name to Haven Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida. The family would like to thank them for all the wonderful support and help they provided for Joan during her prolonged illness.
