Jewel Hunnicutt Diaz, age 102, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 2. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of All Saints Nursing Home in Jacksonville. Jewel was born July 16, 1913, in Albany, GA to Adolphus and Willie Crews Hunnicutt. She was a full time homemaker, known for the many delicious meals and desserts she prepared, most notably, her chocolate and lemon meringue pies. She was a long-standing member of Woodstock Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George L. (Roy) Diaz; a sister, Ruby Head and three brothers: Frederick, John and Joseph Hunnicutt. She is survived by three daughters: Patricia Fleming (Tommy) of Jacksonville, Carolyn Rogers (Bob) of Ocala and Peggy Knowles (Terry) of Orange Park; seven grandchildren: Sandy Bellville (Dean), Paula Poplin (Gary), Rodney Rogers (Carol), Julie Fendley (Tom), Judge Steven Rogers (Rebecca), Susan Martin (Jeff), and Greg Knowles (Brittney); sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. A private service with immediate family members was held on November 4, followed by interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
