Jessie R. Shelton

Jessie Roger Shelton, 77, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, July 26, 2015. Born in Lexington, KY and resided in Jacksonville, FL with his loving wife of 46 years, Brenda G. Shelton. He retired from the U.S. Navy and Gate Maritime, each with 24 years of honorable service. Jessie was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kentucky Wildcats, and loved spending quality time with family and friends. Jessie is survived by his wife Brenda Shelton; daughters Tammy Shelton and Dana (Jim) Martin; granddaughter Mariah (Shaun) Cooper; step granddaughter Shelby Martin; three great- grandchildren Kadence, Jesse Dale, and Karson; brother S.L. Shelton and Raymond Shelton; sister Nadine (Robert) Callahan; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Sudie (Herbert) Hendricks, his father Henry Shelton, brothers John Shelton, Henry (Sue) Shelton, and Charles Shelton. Family will receive friends and family 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, www.townandcountryfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Riverstone Community Church, 6800 W 5th Street, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
