Passed away Friday, June 30th, 2023 at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL.
Jerry was born in Central City KY, September 8th, 1946. After graduating High School, he earned a Tool & Die Making trade school certificate. Jerry then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 4 years as a Machinists on the U.S.S. Yosemite repairing other ships. After his service in the Navy, he lived and worked in Jacksonville, FL, residing the past 46 years in Mandarin, FL.
Jerry met his wife Jane at Southside Assembly of God. They were married July 5th, 1974. They both sang in the choir at church for many years. Jerry loved serving in the Royal Rangers, a program for young boys, teaching life, survival, and biblical lessons. Jerry and Jane loved to travel, and recent years in retirement saw them traveling to Lakeland, FL or Richmond, VA to spend time with Grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane Hope Nelson. They have two sons, Joseph, and Joshua, and daughter in law, Rachel. The joy of his life was his nine grandchildren.
A celebration of Life Memorial service will be hosted at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL, Saturday, July 8th, 11 AM. Jerry’s oldest son, Rev. Joseph Pierce, will officiate the memorial service.
