Jeanne Ann Pauly of Jacksonville passed away peacefully at her home in Mandarin on Thursday September 26, 2024 at age 87. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Frank J. Pauly, and by her parents Anthony and Lucia DeMay.
Jeanne Ann was born July 5, 1937 in Brooklyn NY: the oldest in a large family. She grew up in Queens NY and then Baldwin on Long Island. She went to St. Pascal Baylon grammar school. She graduated from The Mary Louis Academy high school and attended Marymount Manhattan College. She then worked at Grumman Aerospace, where she met the love of her life, Frank. They married in 1958. Six children followed, with the family living in Dix Hills NY. Summer vacations in Northville on the Long Island Sound were family favorites and she loved to host large Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings with extended family.
In 1982 they moved to Mandarin, where she lived ever since. In 1989, Jeanne graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Florida. She worked many years in the finance office at River Garden Hebrew Home. Jeanne gave great joy and devotion to her family. She had a unique and selfless talent for making each person feel special. She attended innumerable events and milestones for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Jaguar fan, being a continuous season ticket holder since the beginning of the franchise. In later years she enjoyed puzzles and card games. She was playing and winning our games of group solitaire as recently as two weeks ago.
She is survived by her devoted children: Dr. Daniel (Dr. Rebecca) Pauly of Roanoke VA, Lt. Col (USAF retired) Thomas (Tracee) Pauly of Lithia FL, Susan (Thomas) O’Neill of San Rafael CA, Diane Pauly of Ponte Vedra Beach, Karen (Mark) McDonnell of Cary IL, and Lisa (Bernie) Perry of Saint Augustine.
She is the beloved grandmother to Dr. Joseph and Alice; Jacob and Tyler; Luke, Alex, and Drew; Austin and Abby; Matthew, Katelyn, and Kelly; Rachel, Connor, Grace, and Julia. She is great-grandmother to four great-granddaughters.
Jeanne is a loving sister of the late Robert (Anna) DeMay, Stephen (Jill) DeMay, the late Anthony (Kyong) DeMay III, the late Patricia (Bob) Paolino, Maria (Alex) Pina, Paul (Joanne) DeMay, and the late Neil DeMay. She is sister-in-law to Capt. (USN retired) Donald (Margaret) Pauly, Carol (late Philip) Mudd, and the late Lois (late Norman) Miller.
The immediate family welcomes friends and relatives for Visitation on Thursday October 3rd from 4-7 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd in Mandarin. All are invited to Mass on Friday October 4th at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Historic Catholic Church, 4214 Loretto Road. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, beside her beloved husband, and near her sister and niece.
