Jason was born in Sheffield, AL, on August 4, 1975.
He graduated from Effingham County High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Georgia Southern University.
Jason enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He would later say enlisting in the Navy was the best decision he ever made. He was a proud veteran.
Jason taught at Lakewood High School and Pinellas Preparatory Academy in Pinellas County, FL.
He taught at Sweetwater Middle School in Gwinett County, GA. He often said he found some of the most outstanding and dedicated teachers at Sweetwater and was very proud to be among them.
"Mr. T", as he was affectionately called by his students, was a kind and caring teacher. He went the extra mile for those students that needed it..
He firmly believed a student's success is based on a teacher's compassion, praise and positive attitude. His student involvement in the classroom and his innate sense of humor put smiles on the faces of all his students. He truly made a difference in the lives of those he taught
Jason loved his family. As his headstone reads, he was a beloved son, brother and uncle.
He considered his Mema the greatest blessing in his life. He will now Rest In Peace at the head of her grave.
Jason also loved his friends. Growing up in the small town of Springfield, GA, the Rahn family became his second family as well as his second home. The friends he grew up with in Effingham County had a very special place in his heart. He always considered his close friends as his brothers and sisters.
Jason was a die-hard Florida Gator fan. Many of his fondest memories were those involving going to the Gator games with his Uncle Larry, Aunt Beth and cousins, Bryan and Danny.
A graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL, 32207
on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 2:00pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by
Hardage-Giddens at Oaklawn Chapel.
