Janet Lee Owen Postma

Janet was born on August 6, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas E. Owen, Jr. and Jacqueline Okkerse Owen.

She was a 1969 graduate of Field High School in Suffield, Ohio where she enjoyed playing in the band. She attended Kent State University and was a lifelong fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes. She was a former Respiratory Therapist and worked in the Life Insurance Industry. But, if you asked her what she enjoyed most, it would be the years she was a raising her daughter and being a housewife.

Janet moved to Florida in 1973 where she enjoyed the warm Florida winters. She also enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, going to lunch with her friends and playing online games. She was an accomplished musician that played the piano, organ and trumpet. She also loved to sing in various church choirs through the years. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 42 years, David J. Postma; daughter, Angela D. Contois (George); sister, Joyce R. Owen; grandchildren, Kyleigh and Raegan Contois; nieces, Jenelle A. Pratt (Bryan) and Autumn J. Herod (Don); nephew, Timothy T. Owen, as well as many special great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11:30 am in Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32207. Masks required for the service.
