Today, we remember YOU and your fellow servicemen, who have so honorably and bravely served our country.
Thank You ALL for protecting and defending our freedoms as set forth in our great Constitution. 
When it was our time to uphold those freedoms, we didn’t give up, we didn’t give in, we didn’t back down, WE DID NOT SURRENDER! I pray that we made you PROUD!

Dear Papa,
A year has gone by since you left us for your heavenly home. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about or remember you in some way. Your memory looms large in the  hearts and places where you are loved so dearly. Yours was a presence nearly impossible to compete with. I would argue you’re still holding court as your memories linger on.
Everyday, we expect to find you in your chair, watching Gunsmoke or giving the local weatherman an ear full, just because he was not your beloved George Winterling! My grandfather, the critic! Nice days found you sitting on the front porch watching the birds feed, while you sat sentinel over the neighborhood. Your easy chair, sweet potato pie and ever-percolating, Eight O’Clock Coffee, spoke to your comforts of home. Your love of horses, all things rodeo, western shirts, & your choice Stetson’s, will forever be emblems of your true cowboy heart. Similarly, your collection of Bibles, speak so proudly of the servant of God that you were. Precious Memories, indeed. 
As the sayings go, “time stops for no one,” and “life goes on,” and we know these to be true. We’re all moving forward as we must, but life sure isn’t the same without you, Papa. On days we miss you most, we trust in where you are, knowing peace and Love surround you. We know your body is new, vibrant and strong, and your pain is no more. We know you are reunited with your most cherished loved ones, but for our family, especially, knowing you’re with Connor and Brie, brings comfort and joy to our hearts. 
As we remember this day, the one year of your passing, we REMEMBER YOU, for all that you have meant to us for so many years, and for the legacy you left behind, that will carry on.
Send us some of your iron-will & resolve as we continue moving forward here without you.

I have often been told the story that I was a Papa’s girl. I went to spend the night with him, but wanted to go back home with Mom. He took me home during the middle of the night and I said, “Don’t worry Papa, I”ll be back tomorrow!💗

There are so many great photos of Papa, he truly was a handsome fella. I took this photo on his 90th birthday when I noticed him sitting there, facing away from everyone and taking in the scenery. 

“Papa, Let’s walk,” Connor never failed to say. Papa would walk him all around the yard, back to the horse corrals, and all around the property. I think those two would have walked together endlessly. Now, they finally are. Walking Together, Walking Free. Walk On.
