Jamie was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. After several years of working as a nurse and traveling nurse, including in cardiovascular intensive care, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Certification in Anesthesia from Texas Christian University. Jamie was a dedicated and well-respected nurse anesthetist at Eastern Carolina University Medical Center, Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, and finally at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. While working at Mayo Clinic, she obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree from the University of North Florida. Jamie remained dedicated to providing exceptional anesthesia care to her patients until shortly before her passing. She enjoyed cooking, wine, and travel, but most loved spending time with her husband and beautiful children.
Jamie was preceded in death by her grandparents Lamar and Gloria McNiel and William and Bonnie Ashe, and uncles Thomas McNiel and Martin Ashe. She is survived by her husband Mark, children: Margaret (10), William (8), and Abigail and Brianna (4), parents Janice McNiel and Peter Williams of Fort Walton Beach, sister Megan Engle (Nicholas) of Fort Walton Beach, mother-in-law Sue Parmenter of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law Matt Parmenter of Phoenix, AZ, a niece and nephew, aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, and countless lifelong friends and colleagues. The family is eternally grateful for and would like to acknowledge the exceptional care Jamie received from the Mayo Clinic anesthesia and oncology teams during her battle with pancreatic cancer.
Arrangements are as follows:
A visitation for Jamie will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church, with reception to follow, 1718 FL-13, Saint Johns, FL 32259. A graveside service will occur Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Loretto Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223, after the reception.
