Dr. James (Jim) Nelson Yadon, 86, died on November 24, in Saint Johns, FL. He was born in Escambia County, FL, on February 10, 1930 to George and Annie (Beck) Yadon formerly of Pensacola, FL. Dr. Yadon served in the Army Air Corps and the Air Force at the end of World War II then graduated from Florida State University. He married Alice Elder of Port St. Joe, FL, where he then taught high school and was a founding member of Faith Bible Church. He later taught at FSU where he also earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Technology. He later taught at Illinois State University and lastly at the University of Memphis. They lived in Memphis for 34 years where he attended and served as an elder at First Evangelical Church. His passion was missions, leading short term trips, mostly to Belize, for over 25 years. Jim was a loving husband, father and “Papa”. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also was a wonderful cook. He will be missed by his wife, Alice (Elder) Yadon and their four children: Mary (Harry) Long; John (Liz) Yadon; Jim (Anne) Yadon; and Ann (Jim) Nelson along with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to those at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek who cared for him in his final days. Interment will take place on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm, at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
