JB was born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 13, 1935 to James (Jimmy) and Louise Wright. He grew up on the westside of Jacksonville and lived and worked in Jacksonville for most of his life. He was an iron worker, member of Ironworkers Local 597, and retired from Elkins Constructors in 2001 as a superintendent. JB was also a member of Park Lane Baptist Church and the 32° Scottish Rite Freemasonry. He was well-liked and respected in the community. He loved to hunt, watch car racing, read, and spend time with his cats, Tom and Hammie. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays.
J.B. is predeceased by his parents and brother, Charles. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jane (Stafford); their son, David, Taylor, FL; daughter, Jamie Wilson (Joe), Upper Marlboro, MD; daughter, Kim Stephens, Alpharetta, GA; son, Kevin (Kimmi), Rustburg, VA; granddaughter, Rachel Parks (Tyler), Tampa; grandson, Joseph Wilson, Bethesda, MD; granddaughter, Jordan Wilson, Tampa; sister, Dorothy Skinner, Jacksonville; brother, Freddy, Glen St. Mary; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, at 9:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., with services to follow, starting at 10:00 am.
