James Short Jr. graduated from Brunswick High School, Brunswick MD, 62. His college paths led him to Evangel College in Springfield MO, 62-63. He graduated from North Central College, Minneapolis MN, 1968.
In January 1965 James married Bonnie Jensen of Canton OH. Their life together led them in pastoral ministry as the Youth pastors in Canton, OH, 69-71. He then went on to grow the ministry of Bellevue Assembly of God, Bellevue OH, 71-78. He worked as production manager for Falhgren and Ferris Advertising, Toledo OH, and Parkersburg, WV, 78-90. Returned to ministry, and was successful in building of churches and congregations in Hudson, OH, 90-95. Abundant Life Assembly of God, Kenton, OH, 95-09. Crossway Church, Galion, OH, 09-13. Retired from ministry, and moved to Jacksonville, FL to be close to family. Began part time work Coggin Honda, Jacksonville FL, 13-20. He loved to play volleyball, camping, carpentry, hunting, photography, and he especially loved being with people. He also loved reading and his dogs.
James Franklin Short Jr., is survived by his wife Bonnie Jensen Short, daughter, Julie Short Walker, Son-in-law Eddie Walker. Grandchildren: Jonathan Ruiz, Victoria Turpin, Samantha Turpin, Blake Walker, and Brandon Walker. Great Grandchildren: Liam, Kalisea, Blaine, Luna, Owen and Elijah. He was an inspiration to the entire family, and was a wonderful example of a man.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223. The Celebration starts Saturday February 15th at 10:30 am. Family and friends are invited to join us at Golfview Community Center following the Celebration.
