My father passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023, at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, GA, at the age of 84. He leaves behind his only daughter, Kathleen Adams, and was married for forty-five years to Thérèse Myrick, who passed in 2011 in Jacksonville, FL.
My dad enjoyed many activities and hobbies, but his greatest love was music. He learned to play the trombone early, and his talent led him to join the Army and participate in the Army Band as a young man. After the military and his skills grew, my father moved to NYC and studied at Juilliard. Shortly after, he played in various orchestras in the USA and Canada. While traveling to play trombone, he met my mother in Québec City, Canada, and they fell in love. They were married on October 29, 1966, and moved to the USA with their newborn daughter.
My parents solved life’s obstacles as a team and did everything together. He did a great job providing for my mother; they were best friends. When my mother became ill, he sat by her bedside for three and a half years every day at the hospital, from morning until night. When I saw him care for her, he taught me so much about selflessness. My dad was a non-complaining man and loved to laugh, and his laughter was one of the things I enjoyed most when being with my father. I will miss him tremendously and the times we shared talking about life. But I am comforted that he is with my mother in Heaven and are now back together, side by side, as they had always been. May they smile and laugh together as a team and feel the peace and joy this earthly world did not always provide. No events for my father will occur, as he did not wish to have services.
