James "Mac" McKendree, 63, passed away on December 11, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida from natural causes. He was born to the late James and Barbara (Harris) McKendree in 1952 in Conroe, Texas. Mac graduated from Ridge High School in 1970. He married the late Rebecca (Pollard) McKendree in 1977 in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. They relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1983.
Mac worked for over 25 years for AT&T. His career as a computer programmer demonstrated his intellect. He enjoyed many hobbies such as photography and drafting but his greatest passions were centered around athletics. He'd grown up playing baseball and used his skills to later coach multiple baseball teams within the Mandarin Athletic Association. He also was an avid golfer. Starting in high school he won many golf awards and tournaments too numerous to mention. This deep passion for golf continued throughout the rest of his life.
Mac was a friend to all. He was generous and always willing to help as evidenced by his many years donating time to coaching. He was strongheaded and a fighter as shown by his battle against cancer. He was dedicated and loyal as shown by his 35 year marriage to the love of his life. He was kindhearted as shown by his love for animals and his enthusiasm as a father and granddad. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mac is survived by three children: Kellie Kwan of Thousand Oaks; Kevin McKendree of Jacksonville; and Sean McKendree of Jacksonville. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Aidan Kwan and Emma McKendree.
