He was born in Waycross, GA and became a resident of Jacksonville at the age of 20 where he met his wife Carol, and started a family. He had a full time paper route with the Florida Times Union and drove a truck for Overnight in Jacksonville for 25 years to support his growing family.
During his life he had a passion for dirt track racing and collecting Nascar paraphernalia. He enjoyed camping, attending bluegrass festivals, and attending church services with his family. Always known for his sense of humor, he could be depended on to put a smile on your face.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers, his daughter, Amy Gale, and his grandson Justin Blake. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Jean, his loving niece Diane Marie of South Mills, NC, his children James Alan and his wife April of Glen St. Mary, James Wallace Jr. and his wife Michelle of Jacksonville, Jason Eugene, Shelby Jean and Sarah Elizabeth of Jacksonville,12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 11:00am. Burial following at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on July 20, 2020 from 10:00am to 11:00am.
