James Curtis “Coach” Cotton Sr., 76, of St. Augustine, passed away on February 17, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center South. Curtis was born on December 29, 1934 in Gadsden, AL to the late Joseph E. and Lois (Dunn) Cotton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Curtis was a retired Banker, and also worked at Nease High School. He was the former Coach of the Jacksonville All-stars and American Legion Baseball. Curtis is survived by his son, James C. Cotton Jr. of St. Augustine; his daughter, Alayna Browder of Jacksonville; his sister, Juanita Atcheley of Jacksonville, AL; and his grandson, Benjamin Browder of Tampa. Burial will take place at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
