James D. Boyd, Jr. passed away peacefully Thursday evening May 3, 2018. He was born May 1, 1931 to Estelle (Beasley) and James D. Boyd, Sr. in Jacksonville, Florida. He served in the Army during the Korean War and then had a lengthy career with Southern Bell and the Bell Companies. He was fortunate enough to enjoy 30+ years of retirement and took every opportunity to hunt and fish with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Carole, her son and grandson Glenn Joyner (Cathy) and Taylor of St. Petersburg; his children and grandchildren David Boyd (Kathy) and Angela of Palm Beach Gardens, Robert Boyd (Marie) and Austin and Colin, Rebecca Cullen (William) and Cara and Haley of Jacksonville and their mother Gayle Arms of Jacksonville. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Starling, Anne Rock (David) and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Lowell (Bobbie Luke) predeceased him.
There will be a viewing Monday May 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at Lake Shore United Methodist Church, 2246 Blanding Boulevard. Reception to follow the services with interment at 2:30 pm at Riverside Memorial Park.
