Irving Ross was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on September 25th, 1926. He was the only son of Irving and Margaret Ross. He served valiantly in the US Navy during World War II. He loved to cruise, watch his Dallas Cowboys and sing to his birds. At one time, he owned his own restaurant. He loved to cook, especially his famous crab salad. Irving would stop and talk to any and all people, and they were all the better for it. He was the greeter at Praise Church and brightened everyone's day as he handed out programs.
Irving was the father of three sons. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gloria L. Ross; sons, Steven Ross, Irving Ross Jr. III and wife Betty; daughter, Juray Brown and husband Frank; sisters-in-law, Marion Howard, Deborah Brack; brother-in-law, Isaiah Brack Jr.; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; cousins and a great many friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 6-7:00pm at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida.
