Inez married Arlie Sumner in 1947, and after his graduation from Auburn University, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1950. She was a long time member of the San Jose Church of Christ, where she created a Sunday School class for special needs children and assisted in the deaf ministry . She worked in the Guidance Office at Ribault Junior High for a number of years until her retirement. She loved to travel, especially to Alaska and the Northwest, but most of all loved to travel to visit family.
She is survived by her son, Dan Sumner and daughter, Gayla Sumner, both of Tallahassee and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Arlie Sumner, her parents and her brothers Pervy Odom, Fred Odom and Gilbert Odom and sisters Mavis Dorris, Evelyn Kimbrell, Pearl Earnest, Jane Fike and Bobbie Burroughs.
