Inez Thomas Proctor

Inez T. Proctor was born in 1946, the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth Thomas. She passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida and never traveled out of state, except to see her sister Geraldine in Georgia. She had 3 siblings (Junior, Jerry, and Geraldine). In 1960, at the age of 14, she married Henry C. Proctor and they remained married until his passing in 2001. Their marriage was love at first sight with an unbreakable bond. She went on to have 3 children, Linda, Brenda, and Ray.

Throughout her children’s lives, she provided a balance of 51% fear and 49% love to keep us in check. Once we turned 18 it was 100% love. She was blessed with a complete and entertaining life and enjoyed garage sales, thrift stores, soap operas, and scary movies. Her favorite time was early in the morning before anyone got up. She said that was the only time she got any peace.

She leaves behind 3 children, 4 grandchildren (Scott, Justin, Joshua, and Keith), and many great-grandchildren. She worked for many years as a machine operator at Benner China & Glassware and in the cafeteria for the Duval County School Board. The one thing that she never considered work was being our mom. As her life has come to an end, a new beginning can come. A life without pain, a life without worry, and a life with her husband and her sister. As God has said (Revelation 21:4), ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away". May she rest in peace, wrapped in the arms of God.

A graveside service for Inez will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
