She lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and Columbus, Ohio before coming to Jacksonville, Florida with her family where she met the love of her life Joe Carl Rogers Sr. They were married on August 2, 1958. She attended Andrew Jackson High School and Florida Junior College, Jacksonville’s Northside Campus. Where she worked towards an Associate in Arts Degree. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Joe Carl Rogers Sr. for sixty-three years and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Although, Hilda didn’t work outside of the home she was a hardworking homemaker who cooked large family meals every night. She not only took care of and raised her children, but also many other children over the years. She had a competitive, playful spirit and loved playing games like Yahtzee, Parcheesi, Rummikub and Canasta with family and friends. Hilda collected Hallmark Christmas ornaments, Fenton glassware handmade quilts and she had a beautiful assortment of hats which she loved wearing. Hilda affectionately known as MiMi to family and friends loved her family, going camping at Camp Blanding and going to the Smoky Mountains where she and Joe had a beautiful two story home in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. She loved nature and all kinds of animals. She enjoyed sitting on the porch in the mountains and watch the elk walk down the road. She got a kick out of watching the birds splash around in the bird feeder. Her favorite bird was the cardinal and if she saw one she would say an angel was near. Mrs. Rogers was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she and Joe raised their children.
