Henry, best known as Bunny and Pop, was the first baby born at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami on January 1, 1934 to Henry Winfield Price and Stella Hankle Price. He is predeceased by both of his parents, as well as his sisters, Mary Huna and Frances Nethercutt. He is survived by his bride of 58 years, Gloria Nasrallah Price; three sons, Bobby (Debbie), David (Patti), Stephen (Kim); and daughter, Kellie Price Huttenlocher (Michael). He is also survived by seven “great” grandchildren: Jason, Whitney, Andrew, Matthew, Kaitlyn and Zachary Price and Emma Huttenlocher. Additionally, he is survived by his younger brother, Tommy (Anne) Price of San Antonio, Texas.
Henry attended Gardner-Webb University where he received his Associate’s Degree and graduated from the University of Florida after serving in the United States Army as a cryptographer. It was at the University of Florida that he met his bride. Henry came to Jacksonville and coached football at Landon Senior High School. Following a year of coaching, Gloria’s father encouraged him to start building homes. After building more than 400 homes in Jacksonville and the surrounding area, Henry retired from the building business in 2007. He is a past President of the Northeast Florida Homebuilders Association and Past Builder of the Year.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 24th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m. at Southside United Methodist, 3120 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Community Hospice of NE Florida. We are eternally grateful for the care, compassion and love the nurses and staff at the Hadlow Center provided our husband, dad, and pop.
