Helen Skinner, 82, a long-time resident of Jacksonville passed away on January 20th. She departed this world anticipating her heavenly reunion with her husband of 56 years, Joe Skinner, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Helen, one of ten siblings, was born in Brooksville, Florida in 1936 to Ernest and Susann Meadows. After graduating from Hernando High School, she moved to Jacksonville and began her 24-year career as a policy change clerk with Prudential. This is where she met Joe, who likewise worked there. They were married in 1956 and shortly after purchased their first and only home on Sans Souci. Helen is survived by her two children, Dean and Nancy, and her four grandchildren, Samantha, Bryan, Elizabeth & Mitchell. Her love for each was unconditional.
Throughout her life, Helen enjoyed and was quite accomplished in her quilting, sewing and needle work skills. She also enjoyed traveling extensively with Joe, whether to Europe or on the road to Gator football games. Later in life she enjoyed her Hallmark movies, crossword puzzles, and political talk shows.
Her family is going to miss her keen wit, strong willed opinions, prevalent sense of humor, and contagious laughter.
We are going to miss you Gooch.
